Just simply not true. Economics is rigorous as a science, and is reliably predictive. It's just not predictive about things that lay people seem to care about - like the direction of the economy as a whole.
It can reliably predict the results of policies like rent control, or tariffs, or subsidies, or tax changes, or a myriad of other things. The problem is that people want economists to predict whether the economy is going to thrive or crash, or they base their criticisms on theoretical economics and not applied economics.
