I am a huge believer in bitcoin. I have been investing since 2017 and made my stack the largest through 2020.
That being said, I do not own a house and stupidly financed a large RV in 2021 that my wife and I travelled the West Coast of America and lived in full-time for close to two years.
With all the glory bitcoin is, it does not help me when it comes to the eyes of the bank. I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to get a mortgage for the last few years; with my entire savings being 100% into self custodied corn, they basically consider me a povert.
Also, part of the reason that the bank is not looking kindly on us, is the large debt I have on the RV. I am ready to sell it and have a buyer locked and loaded, but there will be close to $40,000 in negative equity.
My plan is to cash out that amount of bitcoin, pay off the negative equity, and then the payments that I would’ve been paying on the RV, I will dollar cost average back into IBIT.
The reason I’m thinking of going with the ETF versus spot bitcoin, is that it can at least be favourable in the eyes of the bank portfolio wise and it will (hopefully) set me up for better chances of a mortgage within a year- without losing all of my exposure.
Is this stupid?
I also may have the chance to borrow the money from family, but with the goal of trying to reclaim my cash flow, it seems a little counterproductive.
