I can agree with you on most things but the insurance companies are ‘controlled’ by the government and it is best that way. To put everything into one entity is far too much power.

Simply fix the problems with insurance. Have an amount they charge an individual for THEIR medical needs based upon current and past health. The insurance companies make enough off of that to absorb the other costs and still cover low income and government subsidized healthcare.

Actually, healthcare in its entirety should be more regulated as far as costs. I had a minor ER visit for a tiny blood clot in my shoulder. 6 minutes in a CT machine (13 minutes in the entire room) was $28,000. A 2 oz bottle of Mylanta (maybe $1’s worth) they gave me was charged $48. It’s a battle between the doctors/hospitals and the insurance companies. Hospitals have to charge more to get the ‘negotiated price’ that will cover the service. Look at the deductions on any large medical bill. The ‘negotiated prices’ are much less than what the hospital charges are. Where do those thousands of dollars go that the insurance doesn’t pay? Shouldn’t it be that if you DON’T have insurance that you get those cheaper prices?
