Why would ETH go in some cycle? Are we not hoping for adoption and use cases?

I don't get why everyone thinks they sound like a sage for assuming ETH will go in some endless cycle.

At some point, it becomes an asset we can roughly value due to its economic and financial impact. Or use cases fail to emerge and it's merely a speculative asset.

But if it is adopted, do you thin there's going to be some simple cycle where it plunges in price then happily jets back up?
