After time in project and executive management, I would to return to development work and am aiming for embedded c Iot esp32 type work.

I did a lot of c development for telecoms in my twenties.

The tech landscape is super different and the buzzwords etc have all changed ....

C development in the Iot space seems a reasonable call - is it?

I am planning on getting some project boards - is the esp32 a good place to start?

Then my plan is to find and join some projects on Github to get some practice - I last used subversion for source control.

Any thoughts of ones with enough traction to make a useful contribution?
