CPI adjusted real wage

The same cpi that adjusts out a good portion of house prices, energy prices and food prices. Due to short run volatility, to allow it to be a good long run comparison. Which are what the majority of the paycheck of most people go towards.

Use nominal prices and compare them. Then it doesn’t quite hold as well.

Note that since 2000 house prices have gone up like 300% but wage around half that if even that much. Just as an example. (Median that is)
