Lets say I have $1000 cash in my schwab account

I put in a $700 order of a mutual fund that order will stay open until it exicutes , mutual funds do not trade until 4pm

So your cash will go down to $300 because you have an open order for a mutual fund

Later tonight , because MF do not trade until market close at like 8pm you will see the 700 go into the mutual fund
