Yearly return isn’t some magic guarantee. It reset in the IRA but if similarly invested, you’d have made no more in the 401k than the IRA.

I’d still transfer to a well known broker. Vanguard, Schwab, Fidelity. They’ll all have low cost target date funds to manage it automatically since you don’t seem to have the know how.
