Some background: as a teacher, I don't get paid during the summer and instead set aside $2,000 every month I do get paid (10 months) and put it into my credit union's savings program. The current dividend rate is 6.3%. By the time my last paycheck comes in at the end of the school year in June, it would have a bit more than $20,000 going in to summer. I need about $14K-$15K of that to pay for bills during the summer.

Question: Would it be worth it to instead put the $2K per month into something like VOO or SCHB instead?
