Well, but here's the counterpoint: Trump didn't put any of his money into this business, nor did he build it; it was just set up by his supporters for him to benefit as majority shareholder.

So first of all, if this business goes to crap, it's not because he's a terrible businessman, the thing is just branded with his name and run by someone else, like those NFT trading cards.

Secondly, no matter how the company does, it's a pile of free money for him. Even at a dollar per share it's just a pile of free money for Trump. He basically got a bunch of people to give him a pile of other people's money as a sacrificial offering. I don't know if that makes him a good businessman --- perhaps a good salesman, or an effective cult personality --- but it isn't an example of a bad businessman.
