Hello all, I have worked for one of the bigger Customs brokers in Canada doing release, accounting and post entry on imports for the past ten years. I have recently moved into the private sector to a company which oversees a high volume of both import and export. Export is new to me but I have made adjustments and it has become apparent to me that it would be a great asset to attain the US CCS (again, for working for an exporter). I already have my Canadian CCS add found it very useful along with Advanced Excel and Access courses, but am currious if there have been any other industry certifications that have come of great use to anyone transitioning from working for a broker to directly into the private sector for an importer/exporter? We deal with brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, purchasing agents and several other entities. I have already decided on the US CCS and attaining the CTCS to stay on top of my import knowledge but hope to expand to better compliment my career pivot. There are so many out there I would like to avoid money grabs if possible, but it's hard to distinguish. If there is any input on your experience with any useful or not so useful certifications I would really appreciate it. I would like to add that I realize it's generally not the certification that gets you ahead, there is no shortcut and it is the pursuit of excellence coupled with circumstances which might dictate one's career . With that being said there may be gems and duds and this might be a good platform to identify opportunities and avoid wasting time. Here are a few off the top. CIFFA PLOG US CCS Broker License (I only qualify for the Canadian) Is there something for CSA or CTPAT? SAP?
