From an MM perspective, their goal is to keep the indexes up for the boomers. They’ll look at the order books of the highest weighted stonks in each index (Mag7) and look at the respective “industry” baskets they’re part of. From there, they aggregate the weight of the stonks in those respective baskets. If the order book is thin for individual Mag7-associated baskets, they can big that up to bump the stonks to ultimately hold or pump indexes. This is extremely effective during low vol times.
