"Dey took our jerbs."
It's a totally valid fear, especially if your government's track record sucks. Even the best government regulations are only a delay of change though. The world will always be changing.
On the other end of the spectrum governments will always inevitably be at the whim of its people because without people to govern and tax income they cease to exist.
But governments are very slow and change can come in spikes so whether they have the foresight is another question.
