I really like this reply and I mean that genuinely, despite not agreeing with parts of it. I really do appreciate it!! As for your first point on the 7 trillion needed, I suppose I agree with Altman so much that we need to be investing in the development of our infrastructure and preparing for the future of AGI in a massive way, that I hadn't really even thought of him being poised to benefit greatly from such a thing. And that's a fair critique to make and something to be wary of/criticize heavily going forward. Though I would argue that it doesn't negate his point that we need to be looking ahead, forecasting where this technology is going, and planning/investing accordingly.

We 100% shouldn't have such ungodly amounts of money always flowing up to so few people though, and it sounds like we are in agreement over that. That in itself is a massive issue that spans nearly every issue/area of life and will be exacerbated by AI. Unfortunately, I believe that it will take a revolution of massive proportions to address this issue and that we are all going to need to unite and lead a revolution to bring about the change that needs to happen on that front.

I still stand by my stance that UBI is a necessity going forward and do not fully understand why so many keep insisting that it won't work, as I haven't heard any better options out there. I also suspect that those who are against UBI do not fully understand just how much AI is going to transform this world and how many jobs are going to be gone for good in the very near future. I also suspect there are many spreading such fear and doubts over UBI who do not have our (the people's) wellbeing in mind.

Tax the wealthy to high hell and make billionaires a thing of the past, spreading that wealth among the masses and restoring some sanity to this world. Seems like a no-brainer to me 🤷🏼‍♂️ It will be the most difficult thing in the world to achieve, yes, and though it may seem like an impossible feat, it is also necessary going forward, I would argue. We need to make that happen, we need to end this insanity and stop allowing it to happen.

I forgot to mention that I'm currently homeless, living in a tent out in the Redwoods, but it was something I chose to make work since I am used to the lifestyle. Transitions into homelessness are usually much more of a shock for most people and it's absolutely insane that so many are so close to becoming homeless. All in the wealthiest country in the history of the world (or close to it at least). So I agree 100% there and again argue that revolution is necessary.

As for your last point

This is where I am in complete disagreement. Unity, compassion, and kindness are the most revolutionary things one can embody in a world of anger and hate. Unity is something that those at the top fear the most, as it is the only thing that stands to threaten their iron grip on the world. Just look at how they put Americans against each other in the endless ways that they do, left vs right, Republicans vs Democrats, putting people against their neighbors and saying it's their fault that the jobs are going away or this or that.

And yes, it may be going against the wills of what the billionaires may want and seem like this is all putting us against them. But the way I see it is that it's best to see them as these children who keep insisting on doing something reckless that threatens us all. We need to step up and make the toddler quit it and not allow them to keep doing that, which is ultimately for the good of us all and not just us. They won't see it that way and will kick and scream every last second of it, it will get ugly no doubt, but continuing to allow the child to do that thing is insanity.

Do you believe that anger and hate are formidable tools in achieving the change that we need to see? Because I most definitely do not. I see anger and hate as only being able to spread more anger and hate in this world, nothing more. I also would argue that Love and Unity and Kindness aren't forces that lead to passivity and non-engagement in the world. If one does truly have compassion for others then they will feel compelled to act on what they see as the greater good in the world! I believe that kindness, compassion, and unity are necessary components of bringing about positive change in this world and that anything short of that is just bringing in more fuel to the fire and does no one any good whatsoever.

It certainly is no easy thing to live out, and I am no saint myself and am definitely a work in progress, but I believe it's something we must all be striving for, to rid ourselves of any anger and hatred and to see it for what it truly is - as a misunderstanding of that person or thing, and not a true representation of what they are/it is.
