I’m a bit confused on the rules regarding contributing to the solo 401k or SEP IRA if my side business has a net loss or breaks even at the end of the year. I understand this is due to deducting self employment tax, etc, but how do businesses know their end of year profit vs loss while trying to invest with available current income? My small side business is new and may or may not turn a profit but would like to open one of these accounts. Any insight is appreciated, thanks!
