Retired early with a small pension just under 40k (100% tax free). Own my home outright, after all expenses in a sale I should have just a bit over 450k. Plan is to retire down south, likely Mexico maybe further. I want to get the permanent resident visa over time no matter where I choose then build my home, the countries I'm looking at for the most part all have similar requirements of maintaining around 300k in some savings or investment portfolio and/or a guaranteed monthly income.
My question is what would be the best **no risk** investment historically for my home profits, I wont really need the interest so it will likely just continue to get reinvested each year but having access to it without penalty would be nice.
It seems most CD's, bonds and even some savings accounts are all about the same right now, 5-6%. Can I do any better then this?
