Some people will tell you that time is more important than money and that it isn't worth it being miserable just to have more money. They're absolutely right.

Other people will tell you that having more money is great, and sucking up some OT now will make the rest of your life easier. Overtime is easier to deal with when you're younger, and saving more money now will put you in a better position to afford kids, homes, and retirement down the road. They're also absolutely right.

The simple fact is that every job and person is different. Some people hate working so much that they're prepared to retire at 35 and live in poverty the rest of their lives just as long as they don't ever have to work again. Others love their jobs and working more hours really isn't that big of an ask. Hell, I don't even get overtime pay, and sometimes I will still spend my Saturday working when the wife and kids are gone and I wanted to see if I can make some progress on that problem I was trying to solve on Friday. I don't enjoy my job more than I do spending time with my family, but sometimes I do enjoy it more than sitting on my ass playing videogames or whatever.

Only you can decide where you fall on that spectrum.
