I am not a fan of what the world wide web is becoming, with the shift towards more segregated, closed off platforms, with very poor indexing and search. Take Instagram for example, it's closed and its search is awful, non-existent. You cannot find anything on it. And yet people post information, and may even have some interesting discussions, that may eventually make their way out through screenshots.

This is why I hope Reddit will stay as is, and will remain open and easily searchable through Google. They did ruin it with the redesign, but it is still such a vast resource of information. Every time I need some actual information (which is most of the time), I always add "reddit" at the end of my search. There was a talk of closing it off from Google, but it seems that [they reached a deal](https://www.reuters.com/technology/reddit-ai-content-licensing-deal-with-google-sources-say-2024-02-22/), which is great, as it would make Google a lot less useful.

I like the good old forum format (Discourse, vBulletin) the most, myself. I prefer it to Reddit style thread format, where being first is imperative, and there is practically no point in participating and posting in threads with over 500 comments, as there is very low chance of your comment or question being seen.
