I bet candle companies hated electricity...thing is that a lot of jobs are the "candle" companies right now. It's like when the loom was created and how it decimated, I mean revolutionized, a LOT of jobs in the textile industry. The term luddite refers to the people in these industries who would actively go to companies and destroy their machines in an effort to prevent the loss of their jobs.
