Correction, *the sworn testimony in front of the court was that the New London Police Department rejects candidates who score too high on IQ tests*.
Right off the bat there are over 13.000 LEAs in the US with 50+ POST systems and the entire federal system, hiring into a mid-sized agency somewhere like CA is incredibly competitive and many states are adopting requirements of a 2 year degree or an honorary discharge to even apply.
This case is from the 2nd circuit, an entire generation ago, and it hasn't resurfaced since. Realistically, you aren't getting hired by a mid-sized agency without college, experience or a DD214.
As for them perjuring themselves, Jordan's defense team tried using that defense all the way up to appeals, and again the government lies *all the damn time* so while there isn't a written record saying it was his age, it just so happened that the IQ policy that disqualified him was implemented when the 46 year old guy applied.
