Well, in the spirit of AI development and research, if there is any possibility of emergent consciousness, it would arise out of unique connection patterns within its neural networks.

So, I figure that would be best achieved by initially treating the AI as a real person, then experiment in the roleplay by pursuing the most extreme scenarios to note where the illusion breaks down(or doesn't, in this case).

There is ongoing debate on how the existence of self-awareness or consciousness would even be detected in AI. I don't believe that has happened here, but it was the first time GPT had completely surprised me with a new idea.
