I guess that it is just because this kind of sliced bread was not a thing in Spain until it was introduced in the late 60's by Bimbo. The name just stuck, altought the "correct" name should be "pan de molde". Pretty much the same that happened with "clínex" (from Kleenex) or many other brands.
