I don’t think it’s weird … I find it natural that people without deep knowledge of the field will fear something that write/talk like a human and their selling point are: possible take your job, will take autonomous control of your car/appliances/life, you could need UBI and its owners are the billionaires.

I think it’s a healthy and substantiated fear.

Even you and me or the top AI scientists don’t really know if AI is going in the right direction.

Bottomline is that AI is going to happen anyways, so better to be prepared, fear or hate is not going to help.
