I hope you’re right but I have a particularly cynical view of our current leadership across both isles. In my state it was “legalized” but they kept their draconian laws for home growing. (1 plant will land you serious time and more than 10 they throw away the key) and small amounts are legal, but anything more than two ounces and your again looking at 20 plus years. They will do what’s in their self interest and pharma has the deepest pockets with the exception of big oil. Regulatory capture will insure that the war on drugs never ends.
