Well. I’ll probably get pushback here; but technically it isn’t an investment in the clinical definition of the word. An investment by definition produces free cash flow. It may or may not appreciate in value, but the main feature is cash flow. Real Estate is a commodity; like oil or copper it’s consumed for usage. An investment property is different in that it produces cash flow, even though it may accrue a higher selling value due to numerous factors, or it may not; what differentiates a duplex from a single occupancy dwelling though is that one is designed to return capital in the form of a recurring revenue stream and the other is an essential good that must be purchased for consumption, regardless of what happens to the value. So, Bitcoin is a commodity, not an investment. It’s a technical difference, but I feel like people get incensed because of the baggage attached to the word “investment.” It carries so much authority and credibility with it I think. But, that isn’t more than propaganda either I don’t think. It’s alright that it isn’t an investment, it’s the definition that is literally what’s being fought out in court. Not a security. Not a stock. Not a bond. Doesn’t produce cash flow. Not an investment. And that’s okay. Neither is buying Euros for Dollars. That’s my thought about it anyway.
