If dealing with political extremism isn't part of the president's duties, then I'm not going to give him approval for handling it since he's not actually handling anything. I can only give him credit actual accomplishments, but if there's literally nothing done on the issue, even if because it's outside of his power, then there's no credit to give. The fact is extremism has worsened under his term.

Ultimately, Biden's responsible for the DoJ's leadership, and that leadership hasn't been enough. We're dealing with constant violent threats against election officials, threatening the integrity of elections, without much seemingly done about it. It doesn't seem like there's any real urgency, despite Biden claiming our democracy is under threat. He's opposed efforts to reform the Supreme Court already even with it being a source of extremism.

Personally, I'd consider protecting our democracy one of the president's foremost goals. If I were polled on this topic, I'd definitely think about not picking either candidate on this specific issue. Obviously Trump stokes extremism, but Biden hasn't mitigated it either.
