Yes if someone wants to buy up thousands of bitcoin at once they would go on the OTC market. But that wouldn't get you any of the bitcoin being traded on the spot market on Coinbase.

I don't have a clue how the OTC market works, but you didn't ask about the OTC market, you just asked about buying up the bitcoin on Coinbase, of which, as I explained, you can only buy a tiny amount, specifically the amount people are trying to sell at any given time. I have no clue if OTC participants even have to have their bitcoin on Coinbase, or if Coinbase just brokers deals between people. Since OTC is only for rich people trading lots of money I haven't used it and don't know anything about how it works.
