Because they've been hearing mostly misinformation for the past seven years. People have now spent years getting conditioned to think Bitcoin is some bad thing. And the type of retail people who used to frenzy like crazy into it during bull markets now prefer random altcoins because Bitcoin is too big to 10x in a year for their get rich quick dreams. I think we're gonna see much smaller retail frenzies in bull markets from here on out (this already started in 2021). It'll take many years of gradually educating out all the misinformation and slowly getting people one by one to actually learn about Bitcoin.
Whereas last decade retail adoption drove rallies and price growth, now and in the the coming years I think institutional adoption will take over, and the general public will very slowly get deprogrammed from all that misinformation surrounding Bitcoin.
It's gonna be a real grind and is going to take a lot longer than people on here tend to think to get most people in the general public interested in Bitcoin. The whole "gradually, then suddenly" thing is not how its gonna happen. Maybe gradually then suddenly for institutional adoption, and we're perhaps at the beginning of the transitional years from gradually to suddenly for them. But for retail we've gone from gradually to now very gradually and this very gradually is gonna probably last a couple decades until the public consciousness now longer has a negative view on Bitcoin. Only then will the "suddenly" part maybe happen.
