That said, the arrest warrants on putin are illegal under international law - I have no love for Putin, I spent most of 2022 volunteering as a combat medic in Ukraine attached to a unit of Ukranian marines - I absolutely believe that Putin should be tried for war crimes but the ICC isn't a valid mechanism for doing that - unless Russia consents & surrenders him to the courts jurisdiction.

In order to try Putin for warcrimes under international law without the consent of Russia, you would need to defeat Russia in a war & then create a tribunal under the terms for the peace (*such as the Nuremburg tribunals which tried Nazi officials*).

Palestine is not a signatory to the ICC - the Palestinian Authority has been accepted as a non-state party to the treaty - Gaza is not under the sovereignty of the Palestinian Authority, & the PA did not exercise sovereignty over Gaza when they joined the ICC in 2015.

Hamas exercises both de jure & de facto sovereignty over the territory in Gaza - applying Palestinian sovereignty to Gaza does not comport with any standard of sovereignty previously used under international law.

This is the ICC's claim - however it flies entirely in the face of every single precedent & principle of international law & fundementally works contrary to the purpose of international law.

International law is not designed nor intended to catch & prosecute criminals (*which is the goal of national laws*) rather international law is designed to prevent (*or limit*) wars & to provide an arena for binding arbitration in order to avoid wars.
