I've always half-joked that if I ever come into money and need a guaranteed way to grow it, I'd open an emergency vet chain. Anyone who has brought a pet to one after hours can attest to the ridiculous prices they charge for just doing regular medical procedures at 9pm instead of 3pm.

I think I ended up paying like $500 for them to patch up a gash on my dog's paw. If I wanted it stitched, it would have been around $900 total. My local vet could have done it for $200 tops if they were still open to answer the phone. They would have even taken him without an appointment.
