Hello, I’m a 31M and I started my new job 5 months ago, in addition to a number of benefits I’m receiving, I also have the opportunity to enroll in a 457b Deferred Comp plan (no employer match). I’ve read comments on other post on reddit here about whether deferred comp is a good choice but I couldn’t find anything that relates to my situation, I’m young and I have many more years to go. Those comments I saw mentioned the hefty tax on lump sump payout in case you leave your job, and another about how receiving the life time pension (which is also one of the benefits that I get) at retirement didn’t play well with putting you at a comfortable tax bracket to receive your deferred comp payment. I love my job and the company and I’m not seeing any reasons to leave at least for a foreseeable future, but you can never know where life takes you, so I would like to hear more opinions from those of you out there. Any insights are greatly appreciated! Thanks !!!🙏🏼 😊
