That said, the helmet is supposed to contain communication equipment and possibly a camera on board, thus making it a high value target for western intelligence and electronic warfare officers, so designing the helmet or its comms system with a self destruct as a means of access denial would make sense. Whether or not that destructive charge is large enough to kill the soldier and not just the sensitive electronics, is the real question.

Famously the US tried to similar destroy its top secret helicopter that crashed on osama bin laden’s front lawn and failed, so again the story about the helmets has all the pieces and logic to be real but no confirmation means it’s a crapshoot.
