Great features and scalability etc will IMO not be used by users directly in the long term anyway, it's about getting the infra there for developers to build on top of and end users will use those things. Grandma's not going to get out her hardware wallet and do things, but she may use an app which leverages blockchain behind the scenes to do things in a more efficient or novel way compared to how they were done in the past. In other words I don't worry about if my neighbor is excited about Ethereum, I worry about if developers are excited about the new approaches and architectures it enables.
