One such thing is they take a loan against valuable assets like stock. It lets them avoid having to sell the actual asset to have money, as well as avoiding paying taxes on selling the stock. It also lets them sell some of their stock to pay loans, with the loan being a negative income so they avoid paying taxes a second time.
