I’m starting to think they really are, not that it bothers me a terrible amount, I find the features useful most of the time, but my husband and I had a situation just last night happen.
We watched the Planet of the Apes trilogy on Vudu because we own the digital copies on blu-ray, when we were done, we switched to YouTube and the first recommendation was a video about primates, despite us never having watched or searched anything about primates in the past.
He used his phone to play Vudu through his account, we used YouTube on the TV on *my* account. So two different devices and two different accounts for two different people and it still picked up on it.
The only thing we can think of is that the phone heard us talking, so when my YouTube loaded, it loaded ape stuff because our conversations had been peppered with “ape”, “primate”, “chimpanzee”, etc.
