Machines that can only understand the world through lambda calculus will never be able to fully replicate emotions. It's just a mess of if and then statements, it can converge along the same thinking structures found in exclusively spatial brain operation but as soon as it tries to understand the complexity of reality it will only know how to create a net that simulates it, never fill it.
This goes back to an old theory that was observed through brain damage. People who have right hemisphere damage can be excellent mathematicians but they will often be poorly equipped to deal with the real world. The theory states that the left hemisphere creates order, and draws arbitrary lines to do so, utilizing algorithms like the language used in coding. But it's highly inaccurate when applied to the real world. The right hemisphere seems to truly understand reality, it feels it, and it's the part of the brain responsible for prophetic intuition. It understands the unspoken language of nature in a way machines never could.
