Just so we are clear on the facts here:
The minors had e-verify accounts, brith certificates, and IDs that all checked out. E-verify is government ran and it is the verification for an employees information and work history and qualifications. So it’s not like the plant knowingly went out and hired 16 year olds. One of the kids was even hired through a 3rd party job placement program. These kids managed to get past all of that and I guarantee they are not the only minors working at plants in the area. There’s no way to verify. Even if you line up every single employee and verify their information the only way you’d know they were underage is if they tell you.
And before anyone says “you can just look and tell..” no you can’t. There are pictures of 2 of the kids and they both look like grown ass men.
This is a more widespread issue than just at the factory level. Can anyone here even make a reasonable suggestion on how to prevent this from happening? Because the EV system WAS the way to prevent it by using multiple forms of identification that is SUPPOSED to be difficult to forge.
