It’s not “destroying lives”, you are missing the point. This isn’t about Microsoft “attacking” users or using that data for blackmail. We don’t know what they could do or want to do with the data they could get.

The thing here is privacy. Even if it doesn’t entail a risk for you, Microsoft shouldn’t have access to know if you are playing Fortnite from 4pm to 6pm, or know if you are working on Excel or on Word

If there is a crash, they can obtain metadata and logs about what happened to probably know how to fix a problem that can affect a lot of users (and that’s if the users opt-in, Microsoft does this on a bad way forcing you to send telemetry data you like or not on a paid software).

But more data? The problem is not “what can they do”, is “why should we accept they have this power or implement this feature if they get data from it”
