I wouldn't say Midler v. Ford found a general protection of one's voice. While that case did go Midler's way; in specific facts is quite different than what Scarjo is alleging here. We are in a much different legal and media landscape than we were 40 years ago. It could be argued that one's voice is a lot more unique when there are only a few hundred or thousands being published each year. Now I could find a dozen people that sound just like me, you or scarjo on tiktok, youtube or reddit if I tried hard enough.

I wouldn't call that case being a slam dunk for her to win a case if she sued absent specific evidence coming out that this was done to imitate her.
