I had a “discussion” on a millennial sub about housing, current birth rate, immigration, and overall economic situation and it’s affect on millennials. It was basically me getting blasted for “thinking like a boomer”. Regardless, the argument of many is that millennials have just never been able to afford to buy a starter home because they too expensive. Then it comes out that many view a starter home as a new construction home. I think part of the issue for my generation is that because our parents started home was new construction, we think that new construction should primarily be starter homes, but the housing market seems to have shifted to existing homes being start homes and new construction homes is for those that already have lots of equity/leverage. I don’t think that’s necessarily bad, but people can’t shift their thinking on it.
