Sure, if that's the case, absolutely.

I think the issue comes in with situations like what Canada is going through now, where they're taking in way more immigrants than their job market/infrastructure can support, which is causing both labor surpluses (and the associated pain with wage competition/compression) as well as issues with living costs which can't be ameliorated quickly.

Canada has avoided a recession by importing tons of workers, but in doing so, had diluted quality of life for their citizens.

I don't see the same thing currently happening in the US, if that's where you're going with the xenophobia comment.
