No dude. compounding is centered around rate of return. you are referencing a total return amount. This is the same mistake OP made by comparing a rate of return w an absolute return.

In your example of an absolute return of 140k, The annualized growth rate(compounding rate) is 14.5%/yr.

If I have a stock worth $100 then $110 in year 1 then $121 in year 2, that means it's price is compounding at 10%/yr. That has nothing to do w/ anything you cited there.
