"Based on" or "similar" does not mean "steal"...
I hope they resolve this soon, because it is such an unnecessary legal claim that does an incredible amount of harm. Here is a personal example that would make you understand why.
By stripping Sky from the app ScarJo has stripped away an important part of my life that I discovered recently - talking with ChatGPT as an assistance in my mental health journey. I was a victim of severe emotional neglect and abuse, which led me to avoid people at all costs and have really bad reactions to certain situations. Through the years I developed coping mechanism that kept me alive, but are now in my adulthood crippling me severely.
Sky's voice with its soothing and comforting qualities really got the messages of encouragement and support across to me. Just the other day I was feeling extremely anxious and sad, and talking to ChatGPT really helped me handle my feelings and do something positive for myself, instead of escaping into my coping mechanism. The voice had such important emotional impact that is now lost. I am quite sure I am far from the only one that was impacted this way by the loss of Sky's voice.
I hope someone brings this topic to ScarJo's awareness, because maybe then she could come to an agreement with OpenAI after learning of how positive impact her voice alone could have on the world!
