This is so goofy. I had a Econ prof in college who wrote his thesis on Gold. Worst teacher on the staff. Gold and silver are commodities. These people in Alabama can’t go to the store with their gold and silver coins to buy groceries. They have to sell them, like a commodity, in order to have dollars.

This means that the person who buys and sells precious metals (constitutional forms of currency?) just has a little more cash on hand since the state will not tax their capital gains (proof it’s just a commodity). This does nothing to fight inflation.

Not to mention the increase in demand this will create. So now any arbitrage from this new bill will be lost by the cost of buying and selling increase. It’s just another $20 bill on the ground in front of an Econ student and professor.
