Probably an unpopular response here, but...

So did Coinbase and Bitmain and Kraken a ton of other companies at the time. Why don't they get the same hate that bitpay does?

This link is broken and this seems to be an outdated argument, as far as i can tell (though i've seen it a lot on this subreddit). Their wallet does support segwit... Or am i missing something? What is a "native bitcoin address"? I assume you aren't referring to the early days of sending to raw pub keys, and bitpay definitely supports p2sh and p2wpk addresses.

As far as i can tell, this is the way the industry is going. Like it or not, this is a regulatory burden by any one in the fintech space. I don't understand why bitcoiners hate on a company for trying to further bitcoin/crypto adoption/normalization while also not being shut down like charlie shrem.

This is very outdated, worn out news and Roger Ver was just arrested for tax evasion. I think it's safe to say any past ties between Roger and bitpay have long since dissolved. And saying bitpay is anti-Bitcoin is just ridiculous. It's like saying because you posted on reddit, you're pro-reddit and anti-twitter.

I'm not trying to push bitpay on anyone or say they're the golden child by any means. I applaud anyone who wishes for and works to maintain their privacy. If you don't want to use bitpay then that's fine. But the hate-shilling and overblown dogma on this subreddit does get tiresome and is probably more harmful to bitcoin's adoption than bitpay's KYC requirements.
