Whether it be mutual funds, ETFs, or stocks the market will cool. Even for growth investors like me, I feel like it'll take much longer to get past current prices than if I just wait for the market to correct. Even for value investors, there's a chance that the position you just bought may force you into a growth position.

There are stocks that move inversely to the S&P which I'm dying to buy and yet they're at historical highs.

I recognize that my sentiment isn't true for every stock out there. Last Monday I bought a stock because of a partnership it just made, it's business diversity, and I believe in their future. It's price is also not at a historical high. On the flip side, there are 10 other companies I want to buy into. However, I track their prices daily on a Excel spreadsheet I created and, when I review the price against the company's overall health and past performance, I just don't see it.

I missed the train at the beginning of this year as I really didn't think we'd get here. So take my opinion with that in mind. Maybe there are stocks to buy that will still grow before the balloon pops.

For me, I'm making my money work in other ways that'll give me reliable returns right now and when that bear comes out of hibernation (I don't know, it's morning) I can take my cash and the investment income earned on it and finally buy the stocks I'm dying to get.

Side note: properly managed mutual funds and ETFs move with the market so you'd be buying into it's current basis.
