This is a symptom of Binance using a third party messaging service. Many companies do this, but I have never looked into the security of it.

Clearly these guys figured out who was sending these messages, found a way to create an account with them and use the same name and then used it to scam people.

This should be reported to Binance, they should take this seriously and there should probably be some sort of compensation here... I don't think people should be aware of how the business operates internally to protect themselves.
