You obviously haven’t been involved with bitcoin very long. He (and another dickhead) actively tried to destroy it by instigating a fork, creating a new coin, and attempting to force a situation where there wouldn’t be enough miners to mine a bitcoin block so the necessary difficulty reduction wouldn’t happen and bitcoin would stagnate.

With people like him leveraging claims of being bitcoin’s creator to make other reputationally damaging claims and demands for the future development of bitcoin, along with a history of being able to split the bitcoin community and cause multiple forks, alot of potential investors and users get turned away. You should care about bitcoin’s reputation if you care about bitcoin.
