I used to manage a major Chicago Pizzeria that got involved with a major investment firm. We were assured that our day to day and food quality wouldn’t change. I left for unrelated reasons. When I went back a year or so later, I was talking with one of the district managers and he was telling me that the COO was fired and multiple district managers had either quit or retired early and that it just wasn’t the same as the family owned and operated business they had loved. A lot of these guys were lifers, had started at the first location washing dishes and moved into major roles and had just become so disappointed in how it was being run anymore.
On a side note, if investment firms can buy up all the shitty suburban restaurant chains and close them, I’m all for it.
