The thing is, it's possibly counterproductive.

In 2016, the polls suggested that Hillary was going to win, which meant that a fair number of left wing voters stayed home to 'protest', and Trump scraped through.

If the polls suggest that it's neck-and-neck, then you will get *more* people 'holding their nose and voting for Biden' out of fear of a Trump second term.

(Personally I think that Biden has been a good president all things considered)
